They do not call it an expedition. Expeditions are announced, provisioned, blessed by the Temple hierarchy, and sent out under banners. A Prospect is sent quietly, with a short budget and shorter instructions: survey the ground, mark what is worth taking, and come back with claims the Temple can act on. Or do not come back. The Temple has other Prospects.
Drazhâk the Half-Stone — so named for the calcification that has crept through his left leg from the knee to the hip, the Curse beginning its patient work — was given his posting three months ago. The instructions were two lines. He has not asked for clarification.
