Grade 1B — Community Warband

Source: Town Cryer #14 · Setting: Lustria / Cities of Gold

City-state variants: The Tilean warband from Town Cryer #14 includes three distinct city-state variants — Miragleans, Remasens, and Trantios — each with their own warband special rules and hero skill tables. All three share identical unit profiles, equipment lists, and henchman types. Each city-state is available as its own page on this site. This page documents the base Tilean warband rules and profiles common to all three variants.

The city-states of Tilea are ancient and powerful. Tilean merchants, mercenaries and soldiers-of-fortune have spread across the Old World and beyond in search of profit and adventure. In the jungles of Lustria — where ancient gold lies waiting for those bold enough to brave lizard-men, jungle predators and the crushing heat — the Tilean city-states have established footholds along the coast, sending expeditions inland to seek the fabled Cities of Gold.

Tilean warbands are experienced, professional soldiers used to working together under a trusted Captain. They are versatile fighters, equally comfortable with blade or crossbow, and favour disciplined unit tactics over the berserk fury of the Norse or the magical power of the Elves. Their Duellists are specialists in the art of personal combat, trained in the treacherous knife-and-cape style favoured in the Tilean arenas, while their Marksmen are crack shots with crossbow and longbow.

City-State Variants

Miragleans

Warriors from the city-state of Miragleas are renowned marksmen. Their training produces soldiers who can put a crossbow bolt through a lizard’s eye at fifty paces.

Heroes +1 to hit with crossbow: The Captain, Champion and Youngblood receive a +1 to hit bonus when using crossbows.

Marksmen +1 to hit with all missile weapons: Marksmen henchmen receive a +1 to hit bonus when using all missile weapons.

Hate Skaven: All Miragleans hate Skaven. The Miraglean warband may not include Skaven Hired Swords.

Remasens

Warriors from the city-state of Remases hold an ancient grudge against the Dark Elves, who have raided their merchant ships for centuries.

Dark Elf Hatred: All Remasens hate Dark Elves. When fighting a warband that includes Dark Elves, the Remasen player may re-roll any rout test one time and must abide by the second roll.

Exceptional Leadership: Remasen officers have excellent leadership. The Leadership of the Captain, Champion and Youngblood are always one point higher than listed, regardless of whom they are fighting.

Restriction: Remasens cannot hire Dark Elf Hired Swords.

Trantios

Warriors from the city-state of Trantio are the best-equipped and most experienced human warband venturing into Lustria.

Well-Equipped: A Trantio warband always starts a one-off match with an extra 100 Gold Crowns. In a Lustrian campaign, the warband starts with an extra 20% Gold Crowns added to their total.

Choice of Warriors

A Tilean warband must include a minimum of three models. You have 500 Gold Crowns to recruit your initial warband. The maximum number of warriors in the warband may never exceed 15.

  • Captain: Each Tilean warband must have one Captain: no more, no less.
  • Champions: Your warband may include up to two Champions.
  • Youngbloods: Your warband may include up to two Youngbloods.
  • Warriors: Any number of models may be Warriors.
  • Duellists: Your warband may include up to five Duellists.
  • Marksmen: Your warband may include up to seven Marksmen.

The Captain is a seasoned professional soldier, a veteran of the border wars, the merchant coast skirmishes and the endless petty conflicts that mark life in the Tilean city-states. He has survived long enough to gather a band of followers worth trusting, and leads his warband with cool authority and the easy confidence of a man who has faced death often enough to stop fearing it.

Weapons/Armour: A Captain may be equipped with weapons and armour chosen from the Tilean Equipment list.

Leader: Any models within 6” of the Captain may use his Leadership instead of their own.
