Grade 1b — included in Australis 2027

Source: Town Cryer #23 · Setting: Mordheim

For the mysterious Amazons brought to the damned city in chains, escape is all that they seek. These fierce warrior women from far across the Great Western Ocean originate from Norse Valkyries who settled Lustria generations ago, adopting the trappings of the Lizardman culture they found in the ruins of an island stronghold. Needless to say, they now bear scant resemblance to proper Norse Valkyries — and the rumour that they have discovered a strange tropical drug giving them everlasting youth alone has attracted many would-be raiders to their stronghold.

In recent years, raiders pillaged the Amazon temples and enslaved much of the population. Before the comet struck Mordheim, Count Steinhardt purchased several hundred Amazons from Tilean slavers. During lavish parties, the Count’s Amazon harem performed an exotic dance so mesmerising that many were able to escape into the surrounding countryside. These fugitives have since formed warbands, recovering wyrdstone to sell in an attempt to pay for safe passage back to their homeland.

Special Rules

Sacrifice: The Amazons follow the rules for Possessed when it comes to captives.

Not one of us: The Amazons may not have any Hired Swords or Dramatis Personae unless they are actually Amazons themselves.

Choice of Warriors

An Amazon warband must include a minimum of three models. You have 500 gold crowns to recruit your initial warband. The maximum number of models in the warband is 15.

Although outsiders consider the Amazons to be immortal, the maximum characteristics for each type are the same as any other human warband.

  • Priestess: Each Amazon warband must have one Priestess to lead it — no more, no less.
  • Champions: Your warband may include up to two Champions.
  • Totem Warriors: Your warband may include up to two Totem Warriors.
  • Amazon Warriors: Purchased in groups of 1–5 (you must have at least 1 warrior in your Warband).
  • Scouts: Your Warband may include up to three Scouts.

Heroes

Priestess

Priestesses are part of the religious sisterhood that rules Amazon society. They are powerful sorceresses and their word is law. The younger, more junior members often gather war parties to search for Slann artefacts and conduct ritual sacrifices of captured enemies.

Weapons/Armour: The Priestess may be equipped with weapons chosen from the Heroine’s Equipment list.

Special Rules

Leader: Any models in the warband within 6” of the Priestess may use her Leadership instead of their own.

Wizard: The Priestess is a Wizard and may use Amazon Rituals. She starts with one ritual chosen at random from the list.

Champion

Hero · 0–2 · 35 gc · Starting XP: 8

MWSBSSTWIALd

Champions are veterans that have participated in dozens of war parties. They are the right-hand warriors to the Priestesses and also act as their bodyguards, skilled in fighting with a variety of different weapons including the legendary Claws of the Old Ones.

Weapons/Armour: Champions may be equipped with weapons chosen from the Heroines and special equipment lists.

Totem Warrior

Hero · 0–2 · 30 gc · Starting XP: 8

MWSBSSTWIALd
442331317

There is a peculiar sect within Amazon society that attracts the most bloodthirsty, unhinged members of the population. These sisters are feared and revered in equal measure — the Totem Warriors — Amazons who follow animal totems and adorn themselves in the skins and feathers of their patron gods. Before battle they imbibe quantities of psychedelic herbs and enter a kill-frenzy.

Weapons/Armour: Totem Warriors may be equipped with weapons chosen from the Heroines and special equipment lists.

Special Rules

Frenzy: Totem Warriors are utterly fanatical, blood-crazed individuals, totally out of their heads on dangerous herbal concoctions. They are subject to the rules for Frenzy.

Henchmen

Every Amazon woman is trained in the ways of warfare from birth and hardened by life in the unforgiving jungle. On the shattered streets of Mordheim, things are hardly different — they have simply traded dense jungle undergrowth for broken buildings and rubble.

Weapons/Armour: Amazon Warriors may be equipped with weapons chosen from the Henchwomen’s equipment list.

Scouts

Henchwoman · 0–3 · 30 gc

MWSBSSTWIALd
433331317

Scouts are known for their exceptional speed and agility. They are just as at home stealthily picking their way through rubble-strewn streets and hiding in ruins to set up ambushes.

Weapons/Armour: Scouts can be armed with weapons and armour chosen from the Scout Equipment list.

Special Rules

Stealthy: A Scout may deploy twice the distance onto the battlefield than other warriors and may start the battle Hiding.
